Michelle Petrescu

OSTEOPATHIC MANUAL PRACTITIONER

Meet Michelle, a dedicated and compassionate Osteopathic Manual Practitioner committed to restoring harmony to the body and promoting holistic well-being.

Michelle is a graduate from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy (CAO) in Hamilton, with a Masters of Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences (M.OMSc).

Prior to studying Classical Osteopathy, she graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with Honours BSc Health Science. During her time at Laurier, she developed a passion for human anatomy, physiology and the improvement in human health and well-being. Osteopathy has allowed her to continue this journey and focus on a holistic, hands-on approach in healthcare.

The CAO has a principles-based osteopathic education program. This intensive four-year program included in-depth academic study of functional anatomy, physiology, osteopathic principles and techniques, with 4200+ hours of clinical, hands-on practice.

As an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, she is dedicated to enhancing her patient's well-being, optimizing their mobility, and promoting increased longevity and vitality by improving the interrelationship between the structure and function of the body while addressing the root causes of health issues, not just the symptoms. Michelle brings a personalized approach to each session, tailoring treatments to meet the unique needs of every individual.

“We look at the body in health as meaning perfection and harmony, not in one part, but in the whole.”

FAQ

Osteopathy is a holistic healthcare approach suitable for individuals across the lifespan. It provides relief for those experiencing musculoskeletal issues, aids athletes in injury prevention and performance optimization, supports pregnant women through changing body dynamics, assists children with common concerns like colic, benefits the elderly by enhancing mobility, aids in post-surgery recovery, and offers stress relief for those seeking overall well-being. Whether addressing specific issues or promoting preventive care, osteopathy's gentle and tailored approach accommodates diverse healthcare needs.

  • Osteopathic treatment aims to identify the underlying cause of your pain and dysfunction. Treatment relies on understanding the interplay between the body's structure and function. It enhances the body's inherent capacity for self-healing and self-regulation by applying osteopathic principles grounded in natural law. Disruptions in the body's structure can adversely affect its physiological processes, therefore treatment is achieved by restoring optimal body mechanics, normalizing nerve impulses, enhancing circulation and optimizing lymphatic function. The goal is to foster a more functional and healthier state for you.

  • Regular osteopathic treatment serves a preventive function, addressing acute or chronic pain and dysfunctions.

Osteopathic Manual Therapy (OMT) can yield benefits across a wide spectrum of conditions. An OMT therapist acknowledges the diagnosed issues presented by a patient during assessment and utilizes their expertise to identify and rectify any underlying structural dysfunction. Treatment can relieve and reduce symptoms including, but are not restricted to:

    Back pain

    TMJ issues

    Digestion issues

    General musculoskeletal pain

    Fatigue

    Headaches and migraines

    Arthritis

    Sleeping problems

    Sciatica

    Carpal tunnel

    Sinus issues

    Concussion-associated issues

    Muscle spasm

    Poor posture and associated problems

Shortness of breath/asthma, trigger points or reflex problems

    & many more!

Osteopathic treatment can also be considered as a lifestyle choice to improve your body’s health and vitality

  • The main benefits of treatment include decreased acute or chronic pain, improved mobility, improved immune function, improved cardiopulmonary health, improved digestion, decreased swelling or inflammation, reduced stress on the body, improved sleep. Osteopathy improves health and function of all systems of the body, including musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, endocrine, and reproductive.
